Description:  Wow, talk about colour that screams out for attention! The Mackinac Grand has an extreme brilliance and clarity of colour that cuts through the landscape and is truly something that must be seen to be appreciated. Flowers are a radiant red that shades orange on large, well composed, semi-double flowers with several rows of neatly arranged, angular petals. Petals have a glossy sheen and their colour is very resistant to bleaching, maintaining the same colour until petals drop. The blooms really glow in the landscape in a way that entices viewers to approach for a closer look. When you add excellent landscape properties into the mix, like an upright habit without a need for staking, a quickness to increase, and a plant that is attractive in and out of bloom, you have all the makings of an incredible plant. Highly fertile both ways with a unique genetic background. One flower per stem. A truly special peony that is unassuming in photos, but is always commented on by visitors for the clarity and radiance of colour. Petal substance in excellent.
