Description: This peony has a Canadian connection, being named after Dr. Frederick G. Brethour of Toronto, Ontario, one of the few great Canadian peony hybridizers. Dr. Brethour is fortunate to have his name memorialized by a peony considered to be one of the elite white varieties; Dr. F. G. Brethour also boasts a reputation of being one of the best late varieties that you can grow. Flowers are a shining, pristine white, illuminated by an inner ivory glow, and are of an exquisite, highly refined rose-double form. The immaculate white petals are not sullied by any red flecks, and along with other excellent cut flower qualities this has led to a reputation as a supreme cut flower as well. The plant presents well in the landscape with its deep green, handsome foliage and strong stems, but staking is best practiced in the viewed landscape. If this wasn’t enough to get work up your peony appetite, a strong and sweet fragrance rounds out this plant's well qualified résumé. Very tolerant of heat.  A superior white variety consistent with the quality of Sass peonies.
