I'm delighted to announce that I will be selling seed this year for the first time. Growing peonies from seed and watching seedlings grow and flower for the first time has been one of the most rewarding activities I have participated in. It's a seldom enjoyed activity that more people should experience, as common knowledge dictates that we deadhead peonies in summer. Here's a great opportunity to give it a try!

I have collected seed from some very attractive and sought out parents, many with a track record of producing some gorgeous and interesting seedlings. Please keep in mind that seed is the product of sexual reproduction which produces genetic variation, and as a result, seedlings will look different from both of their parents and from their siblings, much like how the same holds true for us. This is the exciting part about growing seed - generating a unique plant the world has not yet seen! If you are looking for a clone of the parent you will want a vegetative division and to get in touch with me in late summer/early fall for bare root divisions. 

Here is how to make an order and some important things to keep in mind when making a seed purchase from me:

Orders can be placed by email to prairiepeoniesgarden@gmail.com. The parentage, number of seeds, and price of the seed packet is in the tables below. Please refer to the cross name when placing an order an indicate the amount of packets you would like. I will reply to confirm that the seed availability and to provide you with a total. Do not make a payment before receiving a confirmation and payment instructions. Payment can be made via e-transfer or PayPal.

The minimum purchase is 3 packets.

Due to agricultural import/export regulations, this sale will be open to Canada and the United States only. When importing seeds to the States, the buyer assumes all risk that occur with the Customs inspection process.

The cost of mailing and packaging within Canada will be a base price of $5 + $2 for every 5 seed packets sent. A pickup can be arranged in West Edmonton. 

Aside from the cost of mailing, seed will be made free to anyone who is able to follow my planting and care instructions and share the results (including sending me divisions of the plants upon my request) of the seedling growing process. I will ask for detailed and frequent updates, so this is a serious commitment for dedicated enthusiasts who are willing and able to give time to this collaborative project! The seed sent will be at my discretion.
